Artist - The site model does not take the place of a Genuine website
I think I'm talking about complex things, trying to stay away from the obvious, but stating the obvious, sometimes anyway. I just had a conversation with an artist. I'm finding that stating the obvious is really all you need at this time. Yikes!
You need to be networked, and not on what I call a model site. (I, for the rest of this article, calling such a site a "temsit", "tempsit", "temmie", "templesit", or "tpltsite." Otherwise, I find myself in trouble with the editors for abuse keyword.) This should not be your be-all-end-all presence. Please ... no ... solve the network problem ... to obtain one of these. What is a temsit? Well, looks like a model, because everyone else has got one. A web host. He says: "Come to me, my pretties Come one, come all, and will sell for a site extremely expensive - and lookie here: I also practically create the site for you All you have to do is add. Images".
Artist, if you want a thing, do not pay - not a cent. Get a blog on Wordpress or Blogger. Vai now ... and get a blog. This is all you need. I guarantee that this will be easier, much cheaper, and do what a tempsit would do for you - and more. Art on a blog is more prestigious. The site looks unprofessional tempsit art. Sorry to say, but it's true. And what makes me is that many of the artists who make this thing, think they have solved their problem and that the tpltsite looks great.
Compare the temmie to a site in a gallery or artist website that is not a site - in other words, the artist has created the site, or someone paid to the webmaster. If you look at tempsit and compare it with the web site itself, you could see, beyond the obvious, that temsit artist seems like a lot of other sites, the site with more pictures on it, and the photos are better. Yes, this is what you get less bandwidth. You get less space to put your photos and display them properly. Your photos are small on temmie.
Artist, temmie looks bad. Someone has got to tell you. I am sorry to be the bearer of this bad news. Do not blame me for being honest.
Templesit companies, please do not be angry with me. I know that having a goal, an important appointment to this. You are, in fact, a social site. You are simply a social site that pays the artist. This is all okay. In fact, this is great.
Let me be clear: I do not want to dissuade you from creating what I call a templesit. What I want to get away from: thinking of having a web presence, because you have a website template. A tmplsit can create traffic to your blog or website. But a temmie is NOT a website.
And now for what's coming up this series of articles denouncing templesits and the like: Why are the musicians that all you need is a MySpace page? But ... This is another installment .......
