WordPress Security Plugins - Half the Battle
You would think that installing some plugins for WordPress security does all the work to protect your site. Plugins security can help to make sure your site (such as database backup, logging blocks). Most people do not realize that there is much more involved in order to protect a WordPress blog.
WordPress is an application powered by PHP and MySQL. Many high-traffic web sites use MySQL and PHP for large volume data storage. If you are a WordPress user, every time you create a post or a page, the information is stored on your database. Although there are WordPress plugins out there that can help you back up the database in case of disaster, you always want to take all necessary precautions to prevent the site being hacked.
The WordPress developers release a security update when a known vulnerability must be addressed, but it is impossible to seal any loophole. In the world of computer crime, someone will always find a way around it - is inevitable. Even with the addition of plugins that are installed to "strengthen" your security, your WordPress site is still at risk. You can, for example, protect the site from attack by brute force the password for your WP admin area. However, this does not protect your database or preventing unwanted visitors from entering your server via FTP. Remember, when it comes to protecting the WordPress site, you must be sure to cover all the angles.
Each time a user installs WordPress, will always install the default folders and directories. Since many people do not bother to configure the back-end, do not realize that eventually leave the doors wide open, making them vulnerable to a malicious attack.
That said, it is important to be sure to protect all areas of your website, including the server, database, login, comments, files or directories, and wp-admin. If you're looking for help to protect your blog or website or you want a WordPress security check, please let us know. Just remember, you install a plugin security number is only half the battle ....
